Biomechanical Analysis

At Galway City Physiotherapy we have a skilled musculoskeletal specialised staff who are all trained in biomechanical analysis for walking, running, golf swing and various specific sporting techniques eg. kicking technique etc. The use of state of the art video analysis software allows us to use technology to assist us. We are aware that no practitioner (no matter how well trained) can provide a 100% accurate analysis of biomechanical function with the naked eye in a quarter of a second! Our Templo software system allows us view 50 frames of motion per second as opposed to 7 frames as seen by the naked eye.It also allows for slow motion demos for clients and allows us furnish comprehensive reports to highlight poor technique, areas of weakness and tissue stress.

At the clinic a specific biomechanical analysis assessment involves taking a comprehensive history and performing a musculoskeletal screen of joint range motion, flexibility, strength, the neural system followed by video analysis of biomechanical technique and function. This allows us to formulate a specific plan and programme for clients to aid with injury management, performance enhancement and injury prevention.

Your feet have direct impact on the rest of your body. A small abnormality in foot function can have a large impact on joints higher up in the body, causing pain and discomfort to your knees, hips and lower back. At Galway City Physiotherapy all staff are trained in assessment and perscription of footwear and orthotics which may be indicated as part of a management for lower limb and spinal overuse injuries.
