All physiotherapists working within GCP are members of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) and have post-graduate training in various fields including orthopaedics and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, biomechanics and women’s health and sports science and rehabilitation. Our team of Chartered specialist physiotherapists have a “hands on” approach to the management of injuries and pain with an emphasis on joint and tissue mobilisation, manipulation, massage and therapeutic exercise . They have wide experience both within GCP and in previous positions both nationally and internationally and are all experienced in conducting independent assessment, diagnoses and treatment of a varied caseload of clients.

The clinic operates a continual professional development programme which focuses on current evidence based practice and research developments.

Sharon Morris (BSc Physiotherapy, MSc Applied Biomechanics)
Qualified from Trinity College Dublin with a BSc Physiotherapy (Hons) in 1995 and completed her MSc in Applied Biomechanics at Strathclyde University, Glasgow in 2007. Sharon has a wide range of experience having worked in the Irish, English and Australian health services both in a private and public capacity. She has worked as a private practitioner in Galway City Physiotherapy since 2000 and runs the clinic in partnership with Beatrice McGinley Sharon has a keen interest in the management of chronic pain and injury having completed numerous post graduate courses in the fields of exercise prescription and manual therapy Sharon has an interest in the application of her biomechanics specialism into the field of chronic overuse injury and sport and currently manages a varied caseload of professional and amateur athletes and golfers. Sharon currently guest lectures on the MSc in Sports Medicine in NUIG and UCC. She also lectures on a biomechanics post-graduate CPD course for physiotherapists and other health professionals in the field of lower limb biomechanical assessment and management. Sharon is a consultant to the ILGU (Irish Ladies Golf Union) and has worked as a physiotherapist with the, IRFU, GAA and Carded athletes at a national, provincial and county level .


Beatrice McGinley (BPhysiotherapy, Post Grad Cert Women’s Health)
Qualified from UCD with a BPhys. (Hons) in 1992 and from Bradford University, U.K. with a Post Grad Dip, in Women’s Health in 2008. Beatrice worked in the USA and the Irish health services prior to commencing work as a private practitioner in Galway City Physiotherapy in 1998 and runs the clinic in partnership with Sharon Morris. Beatrice has wide experience in manual and exercise therapy and biomechanical assessment and orthotic prescription in the treatment of spinal and joint complaints, pain and sports injuries having completed many postgraduate courses in these areas. She has an interest in group rehabilitative exercise classes especially in the management of chronic pain conditions. She has worked with national, provincial and local sporting bodies and manages individual athletes within her caseload. She is currently a consultant to the ILGU (Irish Ladies Golf Union) working swing on analysis and exercise prescription with golfers. Beatrice is a specialist in the management and treatment of women’s health issues including musculoskeletal problems, incontinence, pelvic pain, ante- and post-natal care.


Roberto Costa Krug (BSc Physiotherapy, MSc Sport Physiotherapy)
Qualified from "Methodist University Centre – IPA" Brazil, 2004. Roberto has further developed his career by being awarded a Masters of Sports Physiotherapy at Curtin University in Perth , Australia, in 2006. During this time he gained experience working with therapists involved with the Australian Olympic Team. Roberto is a manual physiotherapist with an interest in orthopaedic injury and spinal pain and has gained valuable insights and experience whilst working in Private Practices in the Brazilian, Australian and Irish health systems. He has been the Sports Physiotherapist involved with a number of teams including the Irish Senior Women’s Basketball National Squad during the European Championship 2008/09 and the Kerry Hurling Team. He has also papers published in internationals journals.


Barbara Trant (BSc Sports Science/Sports Rehabilitation, BSc Physiotherapy)
Qualified from St Mary’s College Strawberry Hill, London in 2000 with a Sports Rehabilitation and Sports Science degree and completed a further degree in Physiotherapy at the Royal College of Surgeons in 2005. She has worked in private practice in both Australia and Ireland managing a general musculoskeletal and sporting population. She has a keen interest in the management of orthopaedic and sports injury and pain using manual and exercise therapy. She has been involved with the Wicklow County Football team in the past and more recently with the IRFU Connaught Branch as a sports physiotherapist. Barbara has been involved in teaching on a sports massage diploma course. She is a keen sports women having played for Ireland at underage level in Basketball.



James O Donnell (ACE Pt, BA R.M., Dip R&L, NCEHS Spin, SAQ, Cycling Ireland Coach)

James is a qualified personal trainer and spinning instructor-holding qualifications from the American Council of Exercise, Degree in Health and Exercise Waterford, Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Management Sligo, Spinning, SAQ training. Level 1 Coach Cycling Ireland and the only SICI certified bike fit specialist in Ireland.

A fitness enthusiast all his life James studied Recreation and Leisure at third level in Sligo IT and graduated in 1999. Following this James worked in the health and leisure industry for five years before deciding to return to third level studies at Waterford Institute of Technology to study more into human performance testing. A skill, he uses with competitive athletes and his health and fitness related clients.

James has worked with professional cycling teams from Norway, USA, Australia and with the Irish National team in the FBD Insurance Rás and the Tour of Ireland 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Bike fitting is something James has become very passionate about. The increased numbers of people on bikes led James to study bike positioning so that people can achieve the most comfort and cycle with the maximum efficiency. Performance cycling can be enhanced and significantly improved by awareness of correct bicycle positioning.
