Aisling O’Dowd

Aisling is a Chartered Physiotherapist who qualified with a Postgraduate MSc Degree from University of Limerick in 2020.  She had initially completed a BSc in Physical Education at the University of Limerick, graduating in 2012. Prior to undertaking her MSc in Physiotherapy, Aisling also qualified as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. She is a certified Pilates Instructor, including pre- and post- natal Pilates certification.

Aisling spent six years working within various corporate settings in Australia including the mining industry as a Health and Wellness consultant. Here she developed her skills in people management and corporate wellness. She was involved with creating and delivering programs promoting health and well-being, and injury prevention She worked with injury management and provided Prehabilitation classes to employees. She also ran group exercise classes, 1:1 personal training sessions and conducted weekly Strength and Conditioning sessions for onsite Emergency Management Teams.

Throughout her studies and her career, Aisling has gained experience in a wide variety of settings from corporate health and wellness to in-patient post-operative and respiratory physio, musculoskeletal physio, care of the elderly and paediatric physio in hospital and community settings.

Since joining Galway City Physiotherapy in October 2020, Aisling has been instrumental in growing the exercise rehabilitation service we offer at the clinic. She leads our group and individual Pilates classes, both in clinic and online. She also provides 1-to-1 exercise sessions focusing on strength and conditioning for our clients at various levels of fitness and with diverse conditions ranging from back, neck and joint pain, menopausal issues to post-surgical and illness deconditioning and much more. She is also offering classes for the over 60s population targeting balance, strength and good bone health. Aisling has a passion for helping people achieve their goals using a combination of manual therapy and rehabilitation exercise plans.

She is newly married this summer and happily settled back to the West of Ireland.
