Beatrice is a chartered physiotherapist who qualified from UCD with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons) in 1992 and from Bradford University, U.K. with a Post Grad Diploma in Womens Health in 2008. She worked in the USA and the Irish Health Services prior to commencing work as a private practitioner in Galway City Physiotherapy in 1998 and runs the clinic in partnership with Sharon Morris and Clíodhna Ní Choisdealbha.
Beatrice has gained wide experience over the last 3 decades working in manual and exercise therapy and continues to expand her knowledge, always keeping up to date with evidence based practice. She has expertise in the treatment of pain and spinal and joint complaints and has an interest in the active management of chronic pain conditions through using manual and exercise techniques, medical acupuncture, individual and group rehabilitative and Pilates exercise classes and understanding both the psychology and physiology of pain mechanisms within the body.
She has a long history of being involved with sport having worked with national, provincial and local sporting bodies in rugby, Gaelic football and hurling both with teams and individual athletes and in more recent years has been involved with the Galway Senior Ladies Football team.
Beatrice is a specialist physiotherapist in the management and treatment of pelvic issues with both men and women. These include musculoskeletal problems, incontinence, gynaecological conditions, pelvic pain, ante- and post-natal care and menopause. She runs a specific post-natal check-up clinic for mothers, is Mummy MOT trained and is committed to helping women regain their physical wellbeing after giving birth and maintaining good strength and healthy bones through the post menopause years. She also treats men with incontinence problems especially men who are pre and post prostatectomy surgery and those with chronic pelvic pain conditions.
Over the years Beatrice has become more interested in the growing area of cancer rehabilitation as she has had many clients who have taken this journey of cancer treatment and survivorship. She has recently undertaken more specific training in this area and is now a certified Pinc and Steel cancer rehabilitation clinician.
